Parents Information

The school has a small bike storage facility. Bikes can be left on the school site during the day as long as they are locked. Parents should note that the school accepts no responsibility for bikes.

Consultation meetings

Parents have the opportunity to meet with teachers for formal meetings three times a year. Appointments are made for these meetings. Teachers are available at other times by mutual agreement.

Most dates for the year are given out at the beginning of the academic year with reminders given in newsletters. INSET days, of which there are 5, are also usually included in the list.
Should we have freak weather and the school needs to be closed we will notify by ParentMail.

Concerns and Complaints Procedures

If you have a concern, always to talk to your child’s class teacher first. If you still have concerns, please speak with Mrs Harper-Cole, the Headteacher or Mrs Newington, the Assistant Headteacher. Should you wish to progress your complaint, please see the policy on the website and complete the Stage 3 form, or ask for a copy of the form in the office.

We love dogs, but not in school. Dogs must not enter the school grounds for obvious health and safety reasons.

Emergency Closures

How Parents will be advised in the event of the school being closed due to an emergency situation e.g. bad weather

As soon as possible the following action will be taken.

• Parent mail message will be sent to parents
• A notice will be posted on the school website

Helping in School

We welcome help and support from parents, grandparents and other friends of the school. Adults are encouraged to share their talents with us and should let the office know if they are willing to help in school.
All helpers are asked to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service check – the office will provide you with all the information about this. The Headteacher holds a meeting in the second part of the Autumn Term for new parents to explain the role and expectations.

Please be considerate at all times. Please do not park in the ‘Turning Circle’, Valley End Institute or at the junction of Valley End Road as this creates congestion which is very dangerous for our children. Please do not turn in our neighbours’ drives. The drop off zone is operated from 8.40am and 8.55am so please do not park in here during these times.

During the academic year an individual photograph is taken of your child, normally near to Christmas, plus a class photograph is taken, usually during the summer term.

Photographs on the website – only photographs of children with the consent of the parents will go on the website – you will be asked to fill in a form giving or denying your consent – for more information about this please contact the office. The school also requests parental permission for photographs of children to be published in the local press.

Parents are reminded that any photographs taken of school events, must be for their own personal use only and should not be published in any way, including sharing on social media.

The playground is for the use of Valley End children only. The Play frame particularly is designed for school age children and fall heights are not suitable for younger siblings. No child should have bicycles/scooters/roller blades in the playground.

All visitors to the school, including parent helpers, are asked to sign in and out and should make themselves aware of our Fire Regulations. This is for security reasons.
