School Hours

The doors to school open at 8.40 a.m. and school starts at 8.55 a.m. The children are supervised in the playground during these 15 minutes, and we find this is valuable time for them to have a run and a chat with friends before school starts.

Bell

The bell is rung at 8.55 a.m. and this indicates that the school day is about to start. If you are late and the green door is closed please go to the cottage door and sign you child into school. Children hate being late.

Home time

The school day finishes at 3 pm and punctual collection of children from the classroom playground doors is appreciated!

Going Home Arrangements

If your child is being picked up by/going home with someone other than yourself – please advise us in writing either via your child’s ‘home communications’ book, (In Early Years this is in the yellow ‘My Reading Record’ book.  In Year 1 and Year 2 this is in the Home School Book) or an email to info@valleyend.surrey.sch.uk

If we have not received anything in writing, we are unable to let the child go home with anyone else. If it is a regular arrangement, please write this at the back of the home communications book. We are unable to accept phone calls to alter arrangements except in an emergency, backed up with an e-mail to confirm identity. We would like to be introduced to the regular person if not the parent or that person changes. From January 2014 parents/carers will need to sign when collecting children from all after school clubs.

If you are unexpectedly held up and are going to be late collecting your child, please let the school know.

Lateness

Punctuality should be encouraged. Being late for school can mean that children miss the vital first few minutes of the day when routines are established. If your child is delayed for any reason, do please ring the school. Children are classified as being late if they are not in school by registration at 9.00 am. Please be punctual especially for Jumping Jacks, and for picking up from after school clubs. Some providers have other clubs to deliver after ours.
