As well as studying the cultures of different countries such as India and various African countries, each class sponsors a child from either Tanzania or Uganda. Our Parent Teacher Association (Friends of Valley End – FOVE) help the pupils raise money to pay for the child sponsorship through such events as coffee mornings, Christmas and Summer Fayres and cake sales. The money raised helps to pay towards schooling, medicines and nourishing food for the children that we sponsor. Each class sponsors their child either through the The Grassroots Trust or Compassion UK. charities and enjoys following each child’s development and progress through the charities’ websites, letters and other information.
Each term, School Council work with our Headteacher to think of and then lead a charitable activity across the school. Although guided by the Headteacher and the teaching staff, School Council think of and then lead the charitable projects as independently as possible. School Council have recently led a Surrey Wildlife Trust project to help preserve and save water, a Christmas present collection of vulnerable children and an Easter Egg collection for the elderly. As a school we also support many other charities including the Children with Special Needs Foundation, The Salvation Army, My Sanctuary Refuge, Woking and Runnymede Food Banks, Comic Relief, Children in Need, FOP (Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva) Friends, Sal’s Shoes, White Lodge – disability support organisation and Teenage Cancer Trust. At Valley End we love and care for each other and our pupils know they can make a difference!
